The one thing in common would be that they previously had Great Plains Dynamics 6.0 un-installed and then Great Plains 8.0 installed. Nearly 100 comments! So I assume it is failing to boot because of a corrupt system file(s). Thank you.

I uninstalled Norton AntiVirus 2005 and encountered this problem. Hi, Thanx for pointing me in the right direction. So now you try to start Server or Workstation service and you get the same error message on both of them - "The system cannot find the file specified".
This problem also caused a logon issue for the machine.The netlogon service requires the workstation service to be running therefore if a user's password has changed or they have not logged The next poster said to replace the file.
